What is Dolomite?

Dolomite are composed of minerals that are rich in high nutrient content of Calcium (Cao) and Magnesium (MgO) which serves to supply elements of Calcium and Magnesium for plant needs and serves to improve soil structure needed by plants. And can neutralize soil PH that is result of overtime fertilizers usage

Function of Calcium (CaO) & Magnesium (MgO):

  • Corrects the acidity of the soil so that it aligns with the soil’s needs
  • Neutralize substances that can poison the soil in pond and pond type plants, such as excessive Al (Aluminum), Fe (Iron), Cu (copper) in the soil
  • improve soil porosity, structure and soil aeration as well as beneficial for soil microbiology and its chemistry so that the soil becomes loose, air circulation in the soil is smooth and makes the roots of the seedlings move freely to absorb nutrients from the soil
  • Maintaining the availability of micro nutrients according to plant needs, meaning that with sufficient calcium (CaO) and magnesium (MgO), micro nutrients becomes sufficient

Impact Calcium (CaO) and Magnesium (MgO) deficiency:

  • Lack of Calcium and Magnesium in the soil causes the soil to become acidic, resulting in other nutrients such as phosphorus and calcium to be bounded, resulting them not being absorbed optimally.This effect creates chain reaction such as: Ineffective and inefficient fertilizers application, low crop productivity with poor yield quality and eventually economic loss
  • Lack of CaO and MgO will create Al, Ge, Mn, Zn, and Cu in excessive amounts which will be toxic to the soil, disturbing crops, ponds and embankments.
  • Low plant resistance to pests and diseases due to lack of nutrition

Symptoms of Calcium (CaO) and Magnesium (MgO) deficiency:

  • Grain-producing plants will produce weak seeds, wrinkled outlook, and seedless offspring
  • Flower buds and fruit undergo decay which eventually fall and die
  • The edges of the leaves on old leaves appear brown spots, then turn yellow, dry and die
  • Leaf edges on young leaves develop chlorosis and then spread to leaf bones, plant buds or shoots will die easily
